Damon's Peril (Chapter 1)September, 1839 Wiping the gound away from my eyes, my senses working again. I feel the wood floor with my arms spread, trying to push up into a sitting position. The left side of my ribs ache from being pressed on the ground. I can hear rain on a window, and I remember the storm last night. I do not remember the room I'm in, it's dark still, the moon must be blocked by clouds. I sit up and wipe my eyes again, crossing my sore legs. This isn't my bedroom, or any bedroom for that matter.
